World Heart Day 2024

Welcome to our World Heart Day page, where we celebrate an inspiring partnership between HeartWorks and Ashley.

Together, we are committed to raising awareness for congenital heart defects (CHD) and accelerating progress toward a cure.

HeartWorks: Leading the Charge Against Congenital Heart Defects

HeartWorks is a trailblazer in the fight against congenital heart defects (CHD). Founded in 2020, this non-profit organization evolved from the Todd and Karen Wanek Family Program for Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) at Mayo Clinic. Our goal is ambitious: to develop new heart tissue and ultimately cure CHD.

With a team of over 60 experts—including physicians, scientists, and engineers—HeartWorks is dedicated to pioneering advanced cell-based therapies. Our recent achievements include securing Investigational New Drug status from the FDA and launching a Phase I clinical trial at Mayo Clinic. Our groundbreaking work, featured in the Wall Street Journal, is setting new benchmarks in medical research and treatment.

HeartWorks and Ashley are proud to partner this World Heart Day to amplify the message of hope and urgency in the fight against CHD. Our collaboration aims to:
