"Janee’s Heart Journey"

Adult with congenital heart defect posing on top of mountain

“I was diagnosed at birth with Ebsteins Anomaly! Where my tricuspid valve wasn’t formed properly in the womb, it’s a rare congenital heart defect that affects only 1 in every 200,000 live births. At 7 years old I had open heart surgery to replace my valve but two weeks post op started to develop arrhythmias, specifically Atrial Flutters, due to the scar tissue left behind from the surgery. I have been struggling most with the flutters until I needed a new valve in 2020. January of that year I was able to get a new valve implanted via catheterization. It was incredible to see the medical progress in just 20 years. I am still dealing with flutters but am blessed to say that I can live an average life despite my defect!”
