My favorite memory of Abby after heart surgery was watching her mall walk for exercise one week after surgery. It was amazing to see her go from struggling the day after surgery to get to the “toy” closet, to walking the mall and advocate for herself. She was given a terrific boost of confidence from her classmates in first grade with inspiring messages. She keeps the notes by her bed one year later. The support from her family and friends inspired her to be brave while dealing with uncomfortable situations.
