Every fifteen minutes, a family learns their child was born with congenital heart disease (CHD), the most common birth defect in the world. While advances in surgery have improved survival, many children and adults living with CHD still face multiple procedures, lifelong complications, and limited treatment options.
The CHD Training and Innovation Center is being created to help change that future.
Located inside the former Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, this congenital-first campus is designed to bring together clinicians, researchers, engineers, educators, and innovators in a collaborative environment focused on advancing cardiovascular care. Through hands-on procedural training, advanced simulation, translational research, and clinical innovation, the Center will help accelerate the path from breakthrough ideas to real-world patient impact.
Powered by HeartWorks, the campus will support the next generation of cardiac training and regenerative medicine while building partnerships with hospitals, universities, healthcare systems, and industry leaders across the region and beyond.
By strengthening training, accelerating innovation, and improving access to cutting-edge care, the CHD Training and Innovation Center aims to improve outcomes for patients today — and help build a future where congenital heart disease is no longer a lifelong limitation.
HeartWorks is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the future of congenital heart disease (CHD) care through innovation, research, education, and collaboration. Since 2010, our work has focused on strengthening hearts, expanding treatment options, and accelerating solutions for children and adults living with complex heart defects.
From regenerative medicine and clinical research to device development, patient engagement, and advanced training initiatives, HeartWorks is working to move breakthrough ideas closer to the people who need them most.
We believe meaningful progress happens when clinicians, researchers, patients, families, and industry partners work together with urgency and purpose. Through initiatives like the Co-Op patient registry, translational research programs, and the future CHD Training and Innovation Center, HeartWorks is helping create a more connected ecosystem for congenital heart disease innovation.
Whether you are interested in learning more about clinical trials, collaborating on research and training opportunities, joining the Co-Op, or connecting directly with our team, we invite you to be part of what comes next for CHD.
