We are thrilled to share the success of the third annual Callie’s Giving Heart Foundation Pool Party, which took place on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Versailles Community Pool in Ohio. This year’s event was a heartwarming celebration of community spirit and a testament to the power of collaboration in raising awareness for congenital heart defects (CHD).
This year’s pool party saw approximately 175 attendees come together for an evening brimming with joy and meaningful activities. Highlights included an exciting diving board competition where kids aged 4 to 15 showcased their best moves, and a captivating musical performance by Seth Canan of Troy, OH. Seth’s guitar, harmonica, and vocal performances provided a festive soundtrack that enhanced the night’s festivities.
Kristen Ruffer, co-founder of Callie’s Giving Heart Foundation, expressed her pride in the event: “We are proud that we are able to put on a free event that brings our community together to learn more about CHD and the ways in which CHD impacts those around us. Seeing families come together and enjoy such a special evening is truly heartwarming. Our goal has always been to foster understanding and support for those affected by CHD.”
In addition to organizing this wonderful event, the Ruffers have had an extra reason to celebrate this month—they welcomed a new addition to their family. Their joy and dedication were evident throughout the event, which was made possible by their hard work and commitment.
We were also pleased to have Amy Deshler, Chief Growth Officer at HeartWorks, represent our organization at the event. Amy shared our mission, provided candy bags and sunglasses as party favors, and helped contribute to the festive atmosphere. The event featured a variety of delicious foods, including hot dogs and Kona Ice treats, and a silent auction with donated baskets. These elements created a vibrant and supportive environment, perfectly aligning with the missions of both Callie’s Giving Heart Foundation and HeartWorks.
Dr. Tim Nelson, CEO and Co-Founder of HeartWorks, highlighted the importance of such events: “Raising awareness about congenital heart defects is crucial for advancing research and ultimately finding a cure. Events like these not only support affected families but also educate the community, helping to build the momentum needed to drive forward our efforts for a cure.”
Although the event has concluded, the spirit of Callie’s legacy and the mission of both organizations continue to inspire. We encourage everyone to keep celebrating Callie’s memory and supporting the vital work of Callie’s Giving Heart Foundation and HeartWorks.
